This document contains information for the inline buffer installation, designed to work with the Infinity Flow S1 filament loader.
The inline buffer is designed to reduce load on the S1 filament reloader and 3D Printer extruder during long retractions with high retraction speeds (more than 40mm/s).
It works by temporarily expanding during large retractions, allowing the S1 to catch up and handle retraction speeds faster than its maximum feed rate.

The files to print this adapter can be downloaded here: CAD Downloads
Parts List:
- ECAS04 Fittings (2) - Shop Fittings
- Extension Springs (2) - Shop on McMaster Carr
- Inline Buffer Outer Shell (3D Printed)
- Inline Buffer Slider (3D Printed)
Printing The Buffer
- 0.20mm layer height
- Material: Generic ASA, ABS, PETG, or similar material
- Nozzle Diameter 0.4mm
- Print Orientation: Ensure the adapter is oriented as in the picture
- Inspect for defects after printing

Assembling the Buffer
Step 1: Nest the slider inside the outer shell as show in the picture below

Step 2: Press in the two ECAS04 Fittings.

Step 3: Attach the Extension Springs

Installing the Buffer
Step 1: Install the tube between the buffer and the 3D print head.
-
- To reduce load on the print head. Try to reduce the tube length between the buffer and print head to be shorter 16 inches.
- Ensure the arrow is pointing in the direction the filament will flow from the S1 to the print head.

Step 2: Install the tube between the S1 and buffer.
-
- The tube should slide into the buffer about 2 inches (50mm).
- Start Printing :-)
