S1 Plus Roller Side Replacment and Assembly
Overview
The S1 Plus is shipped with roller sides already installed. The S1 Plus can be purchased without sides, or with one of 3 side options: 1kg, 3kg, and 5kg. These rollers and other S1 Plus replacement parts can also be purchased separately. Each of these side sets are sized appropriately to fit standard sized 3D printer filament rolls. The maximum spool widths for each roller size is below:
- 1KG: 73mm
- 3KG: 125mm
- 5KG: 173mm
Each roller size can be used with smaller spools as well. For example, a 3kg roller can be used with 1kg spools. Generally it is best to go with a larger roller size when possible, however, the larger sizes can be a bit bulky in certain applications.
Removing the Rollers
1. Disconnect Lower Bowden Tubes from the S1 Plus.
2. Remove the two M3 screws holding on the roller sides (one on each side).
3. Slide the S1 Plus out of the roller sides.
Installing a Roller Set
1. Slide the S1 Plus into the set of rollers
2. Install the two M3 screws to secure the S1 Plus in place (one on each side).
3. Connect the lower tubes of the S1 Plus.
Assembling a Set of Rollers
- Press the bearings (624zz bearings) into the 3D Printed Sides
- Set the 3D Printed Rollers in place on the sides
- Screw in the set screws to act as the roller shaft. Ensure the screws go in straight to prevent any wobble in the rollers during operation.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for the opposite side
- Press in the front and rear braces to connect the two sides
