S1 Plus Main PCB Replacement Guide
Overview
The Main PCB is the control center of the S1. It manages all of the device’s core logic.
Key functions of the Main PCB include:
- System Logic Control – It coordinates all operations of the S1, including detecting runouts, managing spool transitions, and responding to filament sensor signals.
- Status Indicators – The board features onboard state LEDs that provide real-time visual feedback for each side of the S1 (e.g. yellow, green, red, blue) to indicate loading status, active tracking, runout, or standby.
- Wi-Fi + BLE Connectivity – The Main PCB also handles the Wi-Fi connection for remote monitoring and cloud integration, as well as BLE provisioning, allowing quick and setup.
This PCB is the brain of the system, enabling the S1 to operate autonomously without needing direct integration with printer firmware or external controllers.
The main PCB and other replacement parts can be purchased separately.
Removing the Main PCB
1. Remove the S1 Roller sides using this guide.
2. Disconnect Lower Bowden Tubes from the S1 Plus and set them aside
3. Remove the filament junction cover by lightly squeezing the cover and pulling it off of the S1.
4. Remove the three philips screws holding the cover on
5. Carefully lift the case off—it should come off easily.
6. Unplug all wires from the PCB
7. Unscrew the three philips screws on the bottom of the S1 to detach the PCB Standoff
8. Bend the standoff slightly to pop off the PCB
Installing the Main PCB
1. Bend the standoff slightly to pop in the PCB
2. Install the three philips screws on the bottom of the S1 to attach the PCB Standoff. Make sure the DC port is lined up with the hole in the S1 Frame.
3. Plug all of the wires back into the PCB.
4. Carefully place the cover back on, ensuring that wires fit into designated slots (shown in image below).
5. Secure the three screws back into place to hold on the cover.
6. Snap the filament junction cover back into place
7. Reinstall the Lower tubes of the S1
8. Install the roller sides using this guide.
