Secure Bowden Tube Inlet or Adapter

Many printers and extruders already have a connection point but some may need an adapter. This adapter can be purchased or 3D printed.

⚠️ Friction fits are not secure enough. A 4mm pneumatic fitting like the ECAS04 or similar is recommended. ⚠️

Smooth Filament Path

There must be a smooth filament path into the printer’s extruder. Catching points in any adapters or the print head’s inlet can create problems when using the S1. Take a look at our filament jam troubleshooting guide for more details.

A Strong Extruder

In order to work with the S1 your 3D printer must have a sufficiently strong extruder in order to pull filament through the S1 once it runs out. Most geared extruders are more than strong enough.

1.75 mm Filament

The S1 is currently only available for printers using 1.75mm diameter filament. Larger filament like 2.85 mm is not supported.
